The event, held February 19 through 21 at Fiera Milano Rho, closed with excellent attendance despite uncertainty on the eve of the fair

Simac Tanning Tech concluded with positive results, especially in terms of the quality of demand, despite the fears prior to its opening: the number of visitors to the three-day trade show in Milan exceeded expectations, confirming the event’s role as the key international trade show for production systems in thefootwear, leather goods and tanning industries.

“We’re very happy with this edition’s results,” comments ASSOMAC President Gabriella Marchioni Bocca, “especially in view of the circumstances and the current economic trends and global medical emergency. We registered good attendance from all markets, with the understandable exception of China. Interest in sustainable innovations and solutions and the fact that the event was held simultaneously with Lineapelle, Micam and Mipel represented a strong draw for the industry”.

The world of technology is expressing a strong interest in sustainability and all its ethical, social and environmental implications. A strong signal in this direction comes from ASSOMAC, the national association of technology manufacturers, always in the front lines when it comes to issues of this kind, which has added a forestry and agriculture projectin partnership with TREEDOM to its TARGA VERDE ecological initiatives.

The 500 trees in the ASSOMAC forestwere donated to individual member companies, and SIMAC TANNING TECH also offered an opportunity to involve other associations in the leather and footwear industry in this concrete project by donating a number of trees to them.

On Wednesday, February 19,the ASSOMAC President invited the Chairs of ASSOCALZATURIFICI, ASSOPELLETTIERI, UNIC and UNPAC to meet and discuss the need to work together to protect the heritage of know-how, skills and passion that has characterised their decades of growth and global leadership in the industry.

As well as ensuring quality finished products, today’s production processes must implement technological solutions which are ethically, socially and environmentally sustainable if they want to compete on the global market.

“It has become essential for companies working in our field to commit to sustainability,” continues President Marchioni Bocca. “This is what the market demands, for companies need sustainable technologies to limit their water and energy consumption and CO2 emissions, and it is part of our social responsibility as entrepreneurs and “citizens of the world”.

Technological innovation, automation and new productive solutions distinguish the proposals submitted by the 324 exhibitors (from 25 countries). The trade fair also offered an opportunity to open a window onto the future of manufacturing in the Innovation Corner, a project developed by ITA AGENCY in collaboration with ASSOMAC showcasing the most innovative proposals for integration of Industry 4.0 solutions.

Simac Tanning Tech will be back in February 2021.
